What is FIAV?

It is the international association dedicated to the study of vexillology, FIAV means International Federation of Vexillological Associations, the purpose of the FIAV is a vexillological study for the creation and development of knowledge of all kinds of flags, shapes and functions. Also apply this knowledge scientific theories. The FIAV was formally established on September 7, 1967 at the Third International Congress Vexillologic in Boston. Two years earlier and was organized in the II International Congress Vexillologic held in Rüschlikon, Switzerland.

The FIAV Flag, designed by Klaes Sierksma and miss small changes in the II Congress. It represents “a blue field extending horizontally with two yellow ropes that bind together”.
