Philippines: at war or not?
Today the only country that can indicate whether you are at war only with the position of the flag is the Philippines , should use the flag with red trim above, it indicates that the country is in a war. If the flag is positioned above the blue stripe it indicates that the country is operating normally.
Red means blood and courage of those who fought for independence, blue unity of the country and its ideals, white peace and purity. The sun means the birth of the new country and the eight sunlight provinces rebelled against Spain. I finally three stars represent Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, major geographic areas of the country.
In September 2010 in New York there was a small diplomatic incident between the Philippines and the US, for a protocol error flag of the Philippines stood upside down, with red trim above. Quickly from the USA appropriate apologies were asked the president . The funny thing is that President Benigno Aquino III of the Philippines did not notice the error.
Curiously, the red stripe was added to the flag when the Philippines and the United States were at war in 1899. In 1898 the Philippines had become independent of Spain.
